2021 Secretary's Report

Secretary’s Report

Well, 2020 and 2021 will certainly be years to remember, mostly for the wrong reasons. Notwithstanding the difficulties we all faced in 2020 and early 2021 which resulted in the cancellation of some competitions, we still managed to successfully run seven competitions and 5 matches this year. All these events continued to be popular and well attended (and quite often oversubscribed).

The DMVGA continues to thrive, and our membership exceeded 1,600 for the 1st time this year. This indicates the continued popularity of the Association and the way we do things. Of course, there are always things that can be improved, and the Executive Committee remains conscious of the need to evolve and look at ways to improve what we do to enable the members to get as much out of their membership as is possible.

Club Representatives remain an integral and important part of the association - without you it would be nigh on impossible to operate effectively.  My thanks go to all of you for the hard work you have done this year, despite the difficulties. Our President, Bob Small, has been in touch with all the Reps to invite you to a Reps meeting at Fingle Glen on 24 November. I am pleased to report that the uptake has been extremely good, and we expect around 30 Reps to attend what should be an interesting and fruitful day. In particular, the day will be particularly beneficial to new Reps who have taken over in recent months.

Finally, it just remains for me to say a big thankyou to all the Executive Committee for their continued support during the year. Let us hope that 2022 allows us to return to a full fixture list which will allow us to enjoy some good golf with fellow members.
